Here at Canvas and Fabric Printing, we are obsessive about customer care. We care a lot about you and what you want to print.
When we started this business, we were not trained graphic designers, and we were not an offshoot of a larger printing company that gave us a bunch of knowledge at the start. We built our business from the ground up, learning by doing, and of course, making mistakes along the way. With that said, we completely understand if you are having issues with the sizing of an image, changing the colors, making it brighter, adding text, or just have questions about us, about a FabWood specifically, our shipping policies, or about your order. We were there! Trust us!
Here are our help topics. If you don’t see the answer to your question here, please call us or email us.
What is a FabWood Print?
A FabWood print is very different from your typical UV printed wrapped canvas that most other companies print your images on. With a FabWood, your image is digitally printed onto REAL FABRIC, then mounted to a wood panel with a specially engineered adhesive. Our wood panels are cradled with select kiln dried basswood and faced with 3-ply Baltic Birch. This wood panel is very stable, strong, and will not warp. They are also made in the USA! During the printing process, the inks we use actually penetrate the fabric during the printing process, producing vivid colors and a detailed image. This process also produces a long lasting image.
When the fabric is mounted to the wood panel, it is face mounted, and not wrapped around the sides. This mounting process results in clean lines and an exposed wood edge around the sides of your FabWood. We do mount the fabric on the board so there is a small ‘reveal’ of the wood around the front edge. This gives the FabWood a nice polished look. You will also know that your image is pinter on real fabric, as you will see the texture of the fabric, which is one feature that really makes your images pop! After the fabric is mounted, we seal the edges of the fabric so they do not fray. The great thing about the exposed wood edge on a FabWood is that you can leave it natural, apply a stain, or paint it, making it your own!
Each FabWood is carefully made by hand in Massachusetts for a true artisan piece that you can hang on your wall or stand on a shelf. Note that the edges of the fabric will have some ‘texture’ where it is cut, as it is a weaved fabric and not paper or printed vinyl. A true heirloom piece!
Most FabWoods are 1.5” deep on the sides. Some of the larger ones are 2” deep at the sides.
File Management & Design
Q: What types of files does Canvas & Fabric Printing Accept?
A: We accept JPEG, TIFF, or PNG files
Q: What if I have a hard time uploading my file?
A: (can a customer click a box and then be able to upload the file via Dropbox?)
Q: What if I don’t have a digital image of my photo and I only have a hard copy?
A: You can bring your photo to your local print shop and have them scan it for you. Another option is to place your photo on the floor next to a window or door so the image is in indirect sunlight. Stand over the image, and without casting a shadow, take a photo of it, then you can upload that image.
Q: What is the maximum file size you accept through your site?
A: We accept up to 40 mb
Q: What do you do with my file?
Q: What resolution does my image need to be to get a good print?
A: The lowest resolution we like to print in order to get a great quality print is 150 ppi (dots per inch). What does this mean? If you want to print your image at a size of 16”x20”, then the image needs to be a minimum of 2,400 pixels by 3,000 pixels. Basically, you get the pixel requirements by multiplying the size of the width and height in inches by 150 pixels per inch. If you have any questions about this, or you want to send us your image to check it out before uploading, please email or call us. We are here to help!
Q: Can I print an image that is not mine?
A: Here at Canvas & Fabric Printing, we greatly respect copyright. If you do not have permission to use an image, you will want to check with the owner first, before uploading it for print. If you are not a designer, but want to search for really cool images to print, a great resource is Creative Market. Here you can search and buy thousands of images that would look great printed on a FabWood Print or on fabric by the yard.
Q: Will the colors in my printed image look EXACTLY like it does in my file I provide?
A: Your image will be the same, but the colors will not translate EXACTLY as you see in your file, but they will be very close. Colors vary from monitor to monitor (whether a computer or hand held device) and they will vary when printed on different printers. Your image may look different when printed on paper on your home computer, versus when printed on our fabrics. If you have any other questions about color, please email or call us.
Q: Can you help me make my photo look the best it can?
A: We sure can! We will brighten your image, adjust color saturation, add a color effect, create a blur around the edges, and remove skin blemishes and red eye. To make simple changes like this we charge $15. We will send you a proof of your image before we print it. Simply email your image to us and let us know what you’d like us to do with it. Be sure to include your name in the file name and provide a phone number so we can call you if we have any questions.
Q: Can you help me add text to a photo?
A: We sure can! We charge $10 to add text. Simply let us know the font, color of the font, what you want said, and the placement of the text. We of course will send you a proof before printing.
Q: My image is small, but I want to print it very large. Can you help with that?
A: Yes, we can help with adding image effects that will allow you to print an image larger than its resolution will allow. This will cost $20 to do, and you will get a cool looking image to boot!
Q: Do you provide complete design services if I want a custom FabWood?
A: Yes we do! We absolutely love the design process and would love to work with you on a special project. Simply email or call us.

ReFunds & RePrints
Q: What if I want a refund on my FabWood Print?
A: We want a happy customer. That is our number one goal. Before you return your FabWood for a refund, would love to talk to you about the reason why? Talking to unsatisfied customers is something we want to do so that we can improve our service to you. So, if you are unhappy with your FabWood, please contact us and let us know and we will be happy to re-print, or if you still need to return it, we can talk about that too.
Q: What if I get my FabWood and it’s damaged?
A: If your FabWood is damaged upon arrival, please take a photo of the FabWood itself and the packaging and email us the photo. We will send out a new one right away.
Q: When is my credit card charged?
A: Like most other e-commerce businesses, we charge your credit card at the time you order your item. It’s also helpful to us as a business, as all orders are custom and on demand, and pre-payment is typical with custom ordering.
Q: How do I get billed if I order through email and file upload instead of an online upload?
A: We will send you an invoice via email that is payable by credit card or by e-check where you enter your checking account number and bank routing number.
Caring for Your Product
Q: Can my FabWood Print be hung in a wet environment
A: FabWood Prints cannot be hung in a wet environment. Due to the fact that they are made of 100% wood and 100% fabric, leaving them out in the rain or hanging them in a humid environment (like a bathroom) is not recommended.
Q: Can my FabWood Print be hung outdoors?
A: You can surely use a FabWood Print outdoors on a temporary basis, as long as it’s not expected to rain. If you want to create FabWoods and use them as signage at an outdoor event, they would look fantastic!
Q: What if I want to clean my FabWood? How do I do that?
A: It is recommended that you use a soft duster to dust off your FabWood Print. Do not clean your FabWood with anything wet.
Q: How do I hang my FabWood?
A: The great thing about a FabWood Print is that you can hang it or not hang it! We include hanging hardware if you want to use that to hang your FabWood, but you don’t really need it. You can simply put a nail in the wall and rest the inside frame of the FabWood right on top of it. Because the FabWood is solid wood, you don’t need to worry about the nail popping through the front of it. Also, because the FabWood panel is solid, it stands up on its own! You can simply display it on a shelf without putting a nail in the wall.
